Ao no Miburo, Anime, Serizawa, Nio

I would definitely prefer it Oh no Miburo. Hey, I’ve by no means reviewed two ‘Ao no’ animes in the identical season, as unlikely as that appears contemplating there are apparently a whole lot of them. To not point out it is getting an enormous increase in Kyoto. I see cross-promos and adverts everywhere in the metropolis, and it is at all times good to see one other collection set within the previous capital. However in the end, it is not sufficient to like a present; it should ship the products. If something, the primary two episodes have been very inconsistent and did not take away any doubt on that time.

On the plus facet, this was positively the most effective episode of the three. For instance, it lacked Nio’s signature, overwrought climactic speech. It additionally began to delve into the morally ambiguous nature of the Shinsengumi (regardless that they weren’t known as that but). It is clear that that is going to be a narrative that paints in major colours, however that may work when you’ve got a very attention-grabbing premise. The car for many of this was the introduction of Tanaka Taro (performed by the rightly rising protagonist Horie Shun), one other 13-year-old dwelling within the Yagi Villa.

Taro is within the service of Serizawa Kamo (who can be the primary principal commander of the Shinsengumi), and like Nio, a very fictional creation. Serizawa was reportedly not a lot totally different than he’s depicted right here: brash and ill-tempered, and thus susceptible to intemperate actions. Hijikata and Okita warn Nio to steer clear of Taro, the obvious cause being that he’s Serizawa’s private punching bag. Taro accepts this – he is mainly a villain who’s grateful to even sleep in a closet if it is not coated in piss and shit and has meals in its stomach. Nio is a busybody and as naive as Taro calls him, and he isn’t.

The incident on the heart of this episode is the homicide of Toroichi, one of many Miburo who got here from Edo with the Roushigumi. I do not imagine that is based mostly on an actual occasion (I may very well be flawed), however Toroichi plans to promote out the Miburo, which appears to be the explanation Serizawa kills him. He portrays it as a drunken rage homicide (which appears in character) and orders Taro-kun to scrub it up. However Nio intervenes and shortly finds out that Serizawa deliberate the entire thing, presumably as a result of he knew Toroichi was a traitor. Serizawa denies this till the top, regardless that he threatens Nio’s life, however I believe this did certainly occur.

It may very well be that Serizawa killed Toroichi to guard the Miburo and painted it as a random act. However he is nonetheless the man who beats up slightly boy for enjoyable, so I do not really feel sorry for him. Nonetheless, this premise will work higher the extra it depends on this type of murky morality. That was the fact of the Shinsengumi (and their imperialist rivals), and there was not nice variety inside the group by way of integrity and private conduct. If we keep on this mode Oh no Miburo has an opportunity – and I am curious to see how Saitou Hajime is portrayed as a toddler (even when that is not traditionally correct, as he would have been round 18-19 years previous right here), which will probably be within the highlight subsequent week. Not less than for now I am going to keep it up.
